  1. This picture conjured up so many memorable afternoons for me…..of Thomas….afternoons at Donohue’s, Sierra in one hand and “Thomas’ only” peanuts….unless, of course, you were worthy of sharing them with him, in the other. We discussed music, politics, tourist season (which he hated), his beloved dog, Zeik, hikes, work, friends, concerts or sometimes just chill with his beer……so much during those wonderful days……cherished forever.

He was always so sweet to Tessa. Her memory of him, at the end of the bar, his black/gray beard, cool baseball hat and sharing her pretzel with him, and she was fortunate enough to get a handful of “Thomas Only” peanuts in return…..she was comfortable with Thomas and looked forward to seeing him!

He always had a smile for us and a nice hug to go along with it. A wonderful man……..who will be missed.

  2. I’ve searched long and hard for friends of long ago. Tom and I were stationed together in Newport, R.I.
It saddens me to hear that he died. Tom worked in the emergency room at the naval hospital. We shared the upper floor of a house with three others from the base. There was always music and laughter in the house. Many nights we all sat on the floor and litened to Tom play his twelve string and sang to early hours of the morning. We did so much together. Tom invited me to his folks house in Linden for a weekend, and He gave me a grand tour of N.Y.C. We were both transferred to North Carolina and served as
field medical technicians with the Marines. Both of us got up early on the weekends and ran 3 miles while the other guys stayed in bed. I will never forget his friendship, laughter cynical approach to life, and his wonderful talent for music and the arts. Tom the world was not always kind to you but one
thing I know, you have a friend who understands and stands by you till we meet again. Tim Schenk
